Teen Wolf Too (1987) – A Howlin’ Good Time Despite the Criticism

Sure, *Teen Wolf Too* is a derivative sequel, but let’s be honest—it's still a fun ride. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it embraces the same goofy, lighthearted charm that made the original *Teen Wolf* (1985) a cult favorite.

This time around, Jason Bateman steps into the lead role as Todd Howard, the cousin of Michael J. Fox’s Scott, and he brings his own brand of charisma. His transition from shy college student to confident werewolf is filled with the same mix of humor, awkwardness, and over-the-top antics that made the first film a blast. The film sticks to the formula—teen discovers he’s a werewolf, uses his powers for success, faces moral dilemmas—but it still works because it leans into the campy fun.

The sports switch from basketball to boxing adds some novelty, and there are plenty of cheesy, feel-good montages to enjoy. The supporting cast, including John Astin as the scheming Dean Dunn, keeps the comedy rolling, and the soundtrack screams ’80s nostalgia in the best way.

Is *Teen Wolf Too* a masterpiece? No. But is it an entertaining, silly, and thoroughly watchable ’80s movie? Absolutely. If you embrace it for what it is—an energetic, slightly ridiculous, but enjoyable sequel—it’s a howlin’ good time.
