Tune In Tuesday: written on the wind (Douglas Sirk)

Alcoholic playboy Kyle Hadley marries the woman secretly loved by his poor but hard-working best friend, who in turn is pursued by Kyle's nymphomaniac sister.

The 1950s are one of the most closely examined decades in our history.  Especially in the sense of deconstruction.  Here we have a film that is Nifty 50s on the outside, but inside beats the black heart of corruption, consumerism, segregation, bureaucracy, the soullessness of modern life-but this movie had the audacity to be made in the time it was satirizing. A film to be watched and rewatched. Currently only available as a Criterion blu ray but worth the cabbage.
